SBE Chapter 74 April 2010 Meeting Minutes

The Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) Chapter 74 met on Monday, April 19, 2010 at the Studios of NET at 1800 N 33rd St. Lincoln, NE.

There were ten (12) members and two (10) guests present.

Chairman Dale Scherbring called the meeting to order at 11:32 A.M.

Chairman Dale Scherbring introduced new officers for this year, Dale Scherbring Chairman, Dale Sudduth Vice Chairman, Gina Dierks Treasurer and Mark Voris Secretary.
Chairman Sherbring introduced Bylaws for the Chapter. The original copy was lost so a new set was created using the template copy from National. A motion for acceptance was called for a motion and a second motion was made. A vote of the membership was taken and the Bylaws were approved.
Chairman Scherbring asked for old business, nothing heard.

Chairman Scherbring called for reports:

Secretary’s Report: Vice Chairman Darrel Sudduth read the March meeting report.

A motion for approval was called for, a motion and second was made. With a vote of the membership, March Secretary’s Report was approved.

Treasury Report: Treasurer Gina Dierks or Pat Caffrey were unavailable to give a report. Chairman Scherbring tabled the report until next months meeting.
Chairman Scherbring mentioned programs for the chapter. We will still do engineering gatherings at Perkins the last Wednesday of the month unless otherwise noted. Mark down June 5th for a picnic at the Chalco Hills Rec Area starting at 10am until 3pm. On June 30th we will be touring the Nebraska Dept of Roads Dispatch facility located at 108th and I streets. On July 28th there will be a Dolby Labs presentation on Dolby E. On August 12th will be the Engineering meeting at the Nebraska Broadcasters Association Convention in Lincoln.
SBE Certification: No one is scheduled for the certification exams.

Frequency Coordination: Coordinator Kevin Faris reported no coordination’s however he did get his certification thru the SBE.

New Business:

Chairman Scherbring did attend the NAB and sat thru the EAS programs. He will be sharing his experiences and information at the next meeting.

Chairman Scherbring called for a motion to adjourn. A motion and second was made and with a vote of the membership, meeting adjourned at 11:43 AM.
Following the meeting, lunch was brought in and then Jim Skinner, Nebraska State EAS Chairman, introduced Jared Maynard and Ron Belcher from ComLabs to give a presentation on their EAS system shown at NAB.
